Green Mega Structures: Bosco Verticale

The Green Mega Structures

Eco Architecture is not always on the implementation of innovative green features in a structure or space volume. Sometimes, the expansion of the field makes the resumption of natural evolution and spatial (rather than expansion) in an urban setting, depending on the subject of urban planning. In short, this is what we call urban regeneration. This “regeneration” process, as the name suggests, gives new impetus to the anticipated growth of any section of a city (or even the whole city, sometimes), which is directly related to the conditions of living and better welfare residents.

In this sense, the architectural firm BOERISTUDIO Milan unveiled its ambitious project and the knowledge of two exclusive residential towers. Called the vertical Bosco, this fascinating project and is presented as vertical forests of the first world, which actually is not a simple concept, but about to be incorporated realistic in Milan itself.

The architects have used “the term reforestation Metropolitan for the mega project. In his opinion, the effort will facilitate the regeneration of the urban environment and biodiversity in urban areas without the need for real expansion of city limits. And since the project is related to the vertical, the possibility of increasing the efficiency of the population density without any increase in actual physical (relative to the total area) may be considered.

On the other hand, the vertical structures also represents the naturalistic side of the company in an urban sprawl. Reduction of symbolic and spatial relationship between nature and city, the towers will serve as the stronghold of reforestation and regeneration are merged into one entity.

What makes it mega

Rising as the Garden of Babylon, the towers of the “exuberant” up a level of 110 meters and 76 meters respectively, while covering an area of 40,000 square meters. But the most important factor is the location of the project, which is supposed to be near the center of Milan, near the neighborhood of Isola. This certainly encourages a more important message to both users and space symbolically and residents of Milan. In terms of urban design, two complete sets of complete vertical forest cum residential towers in the center of the town green is a powerful statement.

According to the architects, the vertical Bosco also act as a structural device for survival in the environment of contemporary European cities. This means that the towers will be directly linked to the general naturalization and reforestation of the urban area. In this sense, the designers have thought to house more than 900 large trees that are integral structures. Each of these trees ranging from 3 meters to 9 meters will be complemented by a naturalist from a variety of shrubs and flowering plants. According to conservative estimates, if this huge volume of trees in a plain, the resulting system of forests cover an area of over 10,000 square meters. In addition, the residential area by draping the landscape construction will incorporate an area of approximately 50,000 square meters, if installed in a horizontal position.

Eco credentials

The vertical Bosco was seen as a self-sustaining system that improves, restores, and produces energy. As mentioned above, the unique quality of the towers will be referred to the full scale (as secondary skin) by plant forms. This natural skin system actually serve two purposes. First, the drape is controlled to some extent the nature and essence of the microclimate of the building. This can result in passive cooling techniques and the corresponding temperature control. Second, the cover also act as a filtering device which may contain exuberant dust particles from entering the atmosphere outside the building. This practice becomes more important due to the fact that Milan despite its architectural heritage is considered one of the most polluted cities in Italy. Therefore, the stratum rich in biodiversity regulates the temperature optimized CO2 absorbed particles and dust, and also reduces air pollution and noise. The overall effect can significantly reduce the costs of energy over time, and also in an efficient manner.

The designers also thought individualistic features cantilevered balcony projecting each building. They will be guarded by deciduous trees, which can provide shade during the summer (because of its lush vegetation), and allow natural light during the winter (by blurring their leaves). And finally, the vertical Bosco is a part of an urban regeneration project called BioMilano much higher. This effort will include a magnificent sustainable green area of broadband around the city, the revitalization of the 60 abandoned farms.
