Plantagon Breaks Ground On Their First Vertical Farm

Plantagon underway with its first vertical farm in Sweden. A couple of years ago, Plantagon, an American from Sweden, had revealed his plans for the design and construction of a series of greenhouses skyscrapers that will transform the face of agriculture in the big cities. Finally, after a long wait, finally broke ground with his Plantagon first vertical farm project Linkoping, Sweden. This innovative “Plantscraper” would be the hub of urban agriculture could solve the shortage of products in densely populated cities.

However, one thing that was evident in the design of Plantscraper, Plantagon had changed was that the original design of the geodesic dome and replaced by a simple trick that really works as a showcase for plants that grow inside. This building is the first prototype of this type and would be called the “International Centre of Excellence for urban agriculture.” This building would provide scientists with a new place to test new technologies for optimum spawning methods of urban agriculture.

Inside the jars plantscraper many will be planted with vegetables. These pots, during germination of seeds, are placed in large trays to be taken in the “Elevator Tray” propeller especially great center to give the perfect environment every time.The plants grow as plates move slowly down from the propeller to the basement of the harvest. Food crop that is produced in batches using an automatic extraction machine. After harvest, the empty pots and trays are disinfected and separated for replanting with new seeds. The principal mechanism of this greenhouse is located in the base construction.

Along the way, manure and crop residues are collected for the local production of biogas in an anaerobic digester. The biogas generated is used to power the heating and cooling mechanisms of gases, such as refrigerators and boilers dehumidification and heating inside the Plantscraper. This self-biogas allows the entire building sustainable and profitable. The technology led to a reduced use of fertilizers and harvest work, reduced water consumption, less land and simultaneously allows the production of better quality throughout the year.

The construction of this ambitious greenhouse skyscrapers take anything from one to sixteen months for completion. However, if the prototype proves to be effective, then it might be a solution path breaking into the field of urban agriculture.
