This is a Top 10 greenest colleges and universities. Going Green is the latest trend to hit the world. As the world wakes up to the fact that time is not exactly on our side, experts and lay people trying to find solutions to alleviate the energy crisis, pollution and water problems. This is not an easy task to address these challenges, but that has not prevented the determination laborious. The efforts of composting and carpooling to harness the sun and wind, the time has come to generate innovative concepts in support of our planet.

Although not as big as many other universities around the Oberlin College has made tremendous efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. Students, in collaboration with CityWheels, took the initiative to establish a program of car sharing to reduce the number of vehicles on the road. The school has also established a monitoring system that shows students how energy and water use in real time. The feather in the cap of the university should be the Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies, which uses geothermal energy, recycled materials and a green roof.

Students at the University of California have developed innovative projects to go green. Vending machines on campus are equipped with sensors to put the machine into standby mode when not in use. Students and teachers are encouraged to take the stairs at least one day during a semester and avoid using the elevators. The university, meanwhile, has solar panels on the roofs and some LEED certified buildings.
